Need to understand the area where you are struggling with, Could you please provide more details?
for the First time need to setup the business service view settings
-Selection of domains where Business Services is available
-Need to select tag_type for Business Service inside setting screen
In TSCO console Tags must be set on the business services for them to appear in the service view
you can refer the How to videosDetail information on Configuring the business services view settings - Documentation for BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization 11.5 - BMC Docum…
Hope it helps,
Regards,
Nikunj

Jeffrey Jenkins Nov 21, 2019 6:23 AM (in response to Nikunj Sanghavi)my main area of concern is setting up the hierarchies, I've been able to setup a simple bus service hierarchy in my test environment which shows up in the view but it has been very hit or miss trying to get others to work. I am tagging where needed but a more complex one (business service hierarchy) is not working for me and not sure what the issue is I've found the documentation for actually setting those up is lacking Any real world sample files used for setting up a hierarchy would be helpful

Jeffrey Jenkins Nov 21, 2019 8:41 AM (in response to Jeffrey Jenkins)After much head scratching I found that I was using an unsupported entity type for the servers in the business service that I could not get to work. Not sure why Virtual Node - Vmware is not supported but once I changed to Virtual Machine - Vmware it works

2 of 2 people found this helpfulList of supported system types are documented in the first doc page for business service view.
Here is the link to the page:
We do not include 'Virtual Node - VMware' and other Virtual Nodes since 'Virtual Machine - VMware' and 'Virtual Node - VMware' are two representations of the same server, we do not want to double count the resources of a service by including both 'Virtual Machine' and 'Virtual Node' data
Other points to note:
- In general, there is better coverage for 'Virtual Machine' than for 'Virtual Node' and therefore the decision to include 'Virtual Machine'
- For computation of Usage, Risk and Days to saturation indicators at the virtual machine and service pool level, if virtual node data is available and the metrics in virtual node is deemed more accurate (for example: Memory Usage), then it will be used in the computation of the indicator

Jeffrey Jenkins Nov 22, 2019 8:22 AM (in response to Jeffrey Jenkins)Now there are other issues I noticed for this service that was created. Although I recreated and specified virtual machine - vmware for the servers in the hierarchy, the underlying entity id is still pointing to the virtual node - vmware entity in our database. The virtual node has an agent issue and is not collecting data. This is causing the service pool to not show up in the business service view. How do you ensure that the entity that is in the hierarchy is the virtual machine entity and not the virtual node. And how can I change the entities in the already created hierarchy
