      In Integration Studio using Java example as below:

      String dburl=conf.getProperty(Conf.PROP_EDBURL); //extract.database.url

          String dbusr=conf.getProperty(Conf.PROP_EDBUSR); //extract.database.user

          String dbpwd=conf.getProperty(Conf.PROP_EDBPWD); //extract.database.password

          NlyteCOUtils.dbif=new DBInterface();

          Log.put("Nlyte ETL version 1.0.00 - 2019-08-02");

          //net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver  com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver

          try {

          NlyteCOUtils.dbif.connect("net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver", dburl, dbusr, dbpwd);

          } catch (Exception e) {

          Log.err(e, ETLErrorCode.ETL_FAIL_WRONG_DB_CONN_PARAM);

      I can create the Database connection properties as custom properties and it works but I've seen where I can use and existing connection parameters and an "External Database Connection".  Below is a custom ETL that has the connection parameters section...
