Hi,  I am running the migration tool on our current trackit 11.4 server. The migration gets to tracked items and it halts and have not moved since yesterday. Same thing happened yesterday so I aborted and started again.

Could some one tell me where the logs are kept so I can do some troubleshooting?

      Thanks

      Richard

There is a LOT going on when tracked items are migrated. It takes quite a while to do that part of the migration. It is best to just let it run.  You also have the option of downloading the new R3 update and the new migration tool that goes with it and skipping tracked items if you choose. Some people do that and allow the asset discovery and scan to populate their asset information fresh.

            Thanks you..

The R3 migration stopped me as the target server had trackit 20.19.02.048

Do uninstall and reinstall the 03 version or can I install  the 03 version over the 02 version?

            Thanks again.

You can install the 03 update right over the 02 update. This is documented in the documentation on installing and upgrading here:

You should probably contact support at this point since it failed. They can now get copies of the logs, a copy of the database, and troubleshoot and determine exactly what the problem is.

This is the error indicated in the above log file "Add FILEBLOB.0 - ERROR (version 6.1.0.1-196, build 1 from 2016-04-07 12.08.49 by buildguy) : java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space"

The migration tool has run of memory to complete the pentaho job. Please contact support as we have a solution for this error.

Hello again. To update this thread.. I contacted BMC support and the reply i got from them was:

"This seems to be caused once The migration tool has run of memory to complete the pentaho job, Kindly verify/monitor this metrics and try again" to which I asked how many times do i need to retry. My server as 8 GB RAM. I have not heard from them since Nov 5th.

                          Any other suggestions?

Sometimes you will see below error message after running Migration tool or Asset/tracked item/Audit Trail Job :

                              java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

                                - Close the Track-It! Migration Tool.

                                 - Go to -> <MigrationToolInstallDir>\pdi-ce-6\data-integration

                                 - Edit the Spoon.bat file.

                                 - Search for PENTAHO_DI_JAVA_OPTIONS in that file.

                                 - Change "-Xmx512m" option to "-Xmx2048m"

                              then rerun Track-It! Migration Tool

No Sir. I had three different tickets opened with two teams and it was a matter or retry and then it was “ issue for BMC team”. The other thing was that they asked me for my availability. I gave them the times, they agree but they would not call during those times. Then I would get an email asking to close the ticket.

I made a stink about it and then remade an apt.. Send three emails reminding them to contact me.

I was finally contacted only to be told that they are aware of the issues and that I should wait for 20.20 that is being released at the end of the month.

So I agree.. and this is where I stand.

The bottom line is that the company has budgeted for another solutions and I am trying them to stay with trackit longer as we have invested many hours and data in it.
