Can you post the installation log.
Looks like I need to import "AtriumCMDBConsole.def" , but thing is, if you go through this thread, I was already required to import another DEF file previously but still I faced issues.
Tried importing the DEF file, just for the heck of it, and I get this again.
I have copy pasted all the content in the attached text file.
i just found from the community if you can proceed for the uninstallation for the CMDB and then try to re-install. If you can then try with the following steps before running the installer again:-
To complete the BMC Atrium CMDB uninstallation on Windows
1. Perform the uninstall procedure as described in “Uninstalling BMC Atrium Core features” on page 118.
2. In BMC Remedy Developer Studio, log in to the AR System server where BMC Atrium CMDB is installed and delete all forms, menus, and applications with names beginning with BMC, BSM, CMDB, OBJSTR, and RE.
3. With BMC Remedy User, log in to the AR System server where BMC Atrium CMDB is installed.
4. Open the SHARE:Application_Properties form in Search mode, and delete all entries with the BMC Atrium CMDB Application ID OB00C04FA081BABZlxQAmyflAg1wEA.
To delete entries in a form with BMC Remedy User, select them in the search results pane and choose Actions > Delete from the menu.
5. Delete any entries from the SHARE:Applicaton_Properties form for BMC Atrium CMDB extensions installed by other products, such as BMC Impact Solutions or BMC Foundation Discovery and BMC Topology Discovery.
6. In the Group form, delete the entries that start with CMDB and OBJSTR:
CMDB Internal View
CMDB Data Change Group
CMDB Data View Group
OBJSTR Class View
OBJSTR Class Change
CMDB Write Security
CMDB Internal View Dynamic
7. In the Roles form, delete the entries that start with CMDB:
CMDB RE User
CMDB RE Definitions Admin
CMDB RE Manual Identification
CMDB Data View All
CMDB Data Change All
CMDB Console User
CMDB Console Admin
CMDB Definitions Viewer
CMDB Definitions Admin
CMDB Data View
CMDB Data Change
Thanks a ton for taking interest in my issue and delving in such great depths to find a solution for this.
Actually, the server in which I had installed ARS and was trying to install CMDB was used previously to install another ITSM version. Looks like during the un-installation of the previous version, many residue files were left behind which were hindering my CMDB installation.
Since I had devoted a fairly appreciable amount chasing this issue, I decided to have that Windows AR server totally formatted and start fresh installation anew.
Right now as I write this that server is being formatted.
I would like to thank you again for taking such a keen look at this issue and sending such an elaborate riposte.
I am sure it will help someone in the future.
Thanks Edison, Actually we also came up this this type of error while performing an upgrade so at that time we had restore the previous backup to the server and started from the scratch which solved our problem.
Just one small question.
If you have gone through this entire thread, you will know that MS SQL 2012 DB is on my laptop, and I am remotely installing ARS + ITSM on another desktop server.
Now that desktop server has been formatted, do you think I need to make any changes in the pre-existing ARSystem DB? Should I keep it or delete it and let an altogether new ARS DB be created when I start installation afresh?
Are there any instructions that I need to follow here ?

I you have system access rights for the DB, then remove everything a let the installer create all things new again for you.
Then during installation you will enter the ARAdmin User for ARSystem and DB System Login/Pass that the installer can create the DB for you
I formatted the entire remote ARS server and started fresh installation. While I was able to finish the ARS installation without any hassles, Atrium Core has started giving me the same error, which is shown in the snapshot below.
I have attached the logs too. This time, it looks like a database issue to me.
Would you please mind having a look and telling me what do you think?
I tried to install again but this time I saw a different set of errors in the logs.
They are related to database but I am not able to zero down on the specifics.
Would you please assist me here?

You write :
>>>I formatted the entire remote ARS server and started fresh installation.
did you removed/delete also the db ?
Thanks for your quick response, Marek.
Nope, I did NOT remove the DB.
I am also beginning to wonder if my Atrium Core installer has been corrupted.
I'm not sure what you mean. Extract the installation files and start setup...or ?
before remove again the installation and the db(s)
