It is required to have either Fixed or Floating License type for users to create in smart reporting.
Read license users will not be created in smart reporting.
Please refer to the below document for more information on the same:
Thanks and Regards,
Many thanks, but the license type is not the problem and the troubleshooting link doesn't help either. We've now decided to deploy Patch 1 for 18.08 and check it again after that.
The failure I see here is because of the internal webService call failure during connection establishment with Yellowfin, which further leads to NullPointerException. I do not think, applying the patch would help here as I see this is more of a config/env issue.
>> 2019-02-12 11:56:57,299 ERROR [pool-5-thread-5] com.bmc.usersync.utils.UserSyncUtil (UserSyncUtil.java:491) - Error in creating yellowfin service with https url ..
The above error indicate that there is failure reported by the Yellowfin. To identify the actual cause, you need to enable the yellowfin debug logs , repro the issue. Now the logs from Smart Reporting installation directory /SRInstallDir/appserver/logs/bmcsmartreporting-stdout.<DATE>.log should give you more details on failure stack trace.
In the meantime you can test to
- Check if SmartReportingServer_Info table has correct Smart Reporting Connection details (HTTP/HTTPS) and using same settings the server can be accessed from AR Server which is used during Smart Reporting onboarding.
- Enable HTTP connector for Reporting tomcat server , update the SmartReportingServer_Info form with http connection details and run the test, see if that works.

there is a hotfix available for the usersync .jar files, check with BMC if this applies to your version.
Also, there is an associated User Sync form in Remedy that you can confirm that the values (Username, Password, URL) are correct.
