    Unable to discover VM hostname in ADDM

      Hi,

       

      We have ADDM 11.3 in environment and out of 1000 hosts 99 hosts are not showing the VM hostname in ADDM.

       

      Is it due to premission issue for the user which we have used for  discovery in ADDM?

            You mean they are a VirtualMachine or that you have discovered them as a Host and they do not show a name?

              I don't understand how this is in any way related to the KA you referenced.

                They are all Virtual Machine and most of the server shows VM hostname  but only 99 server doesn't show the name.

                You can see in the below screenshot under the VM hostname column there are 2 entries with value "Not set".

                 

                Are you clear now? or u still not getting what i am trying to say?

                  I understand they are virtual machines. But are you discovering them as Hosts, i.e. scanning them or are you seeing them indirectly as VirtualMachine nodes, e.g. by getting a list of virtual machines on an ESX box.

                      What node kind are you showing - VirtualMachine or Host?

                          Yes, but unless you discover them they that does not mean you have Host nodes.

                           

                          Are these hosts running a variety of OSes? How does it discover them, e.g. ssh, WMI.

                            What is your search query? Is it trying to get back destroyed things.

                              Yes, they are running on Windows(2008 and 2012) and Linux(Rhel,Centos and SUSE) and they are discover through SSH and WMI only.

                                  If you are talking about VM Host Name then that would be because Discovery has not linked up the virtual host with the machine on which the virtual machine is running. You need to check if you are actually successfully scanning the machine on which the virtual machine is running otherwise the linking cannot happen.

                                    VM machine are been scanned successfully but still host is not showing up the name in VM Hostname  column.

                                     

                                    Is there any other solution ?
