vCenter appliances have an os_type of VMware vCenter Appliance. So you can query
WHERE os_type = 'VMware vCenter Appliance'
Can you give an example of a server that is an appliance? What is the usecase for needing this designation?
In vCenter, are such systems noted somewhere? For example, I often see admins making notations in the VM Name field. there are annotations which might be accessible in older versions or vmware, but 6+ uses Tags and unfortunately those are not accessible to Discovery. See this thread for some detail: Read Notes Field from VM Annotations in VCenter
the use case is - we don't have access to many servers and that all falls in Virtual Machines, In those Virtual machines - Appliance is something we need to exclude which we know for sure that appliance is not going to work through the credentials and narrow down to rest of the machines to fix the discovery issues.
