My question is what happens when a customer has not installed the latest version of software from a company but has installed the latest TKU which is written for the latest software?  An example would be where Oracle releases a new version and with that new version they changed the location of where the version attribute is kept.  BMC is notified and updates the pattern to reflect the new location for the version.  Since the customer didn't upgrade Oracle, will the previous pattern no longer trigger since it has been superseded by a newer one?  Or does the reasoning engine perform a check first to see which version of Oracle is installed and runs the correct pattern?
