Atrium Integrator and BMC Client Management 1.6 or 1.7 not importing Software Catagories

    Steve Gibbs

I am not sure if there is already a posted "defect" for this issue or not.  After the installation of either 1.6 or 1.7 Installer (located under Client Management in EPD) the Software job works great except the "Item" field is brought in as "BMC Discovered", see screen shot below.  This translates to the ITSM solution as Tier 3 I believe. This is a problem since there will be over 1100 items from the pick list. Why are the Categories not being imported or used from the Flexera Catalog?  This would be the ideal solution. They are already categorized and normalized. This makes the product catalog upkeep a breeze.  Due to these fields not being brought in, now the admin MUST create Product Catalog items manually to match the work already done in BCM.  Can this be addressed or at least answered?

Here is the data in Client Management:

I thought I would additional information...  Below is screen shot of the BCM DB View that is used to populate the software.  Notice there is no "Item" column or "Category"...

I also wanted to share the error log when there is no corresponding Product Catalog or Alias pre-created...  Notice also there are no Patch entries...  They are all null... Customers that must adhere to ARS 3.0 must be able to report on Patch levels. I attached the log for further review.

Wondering if this should be in ITSM community? I'll tag them at least

Remedy ITSM  Anyone have thoughts on this?

So found this in the docs - looks like it's designed to put the BMC Discovered in there. Maybe we need to do an idea to allow the mapping to be pulled from BCM instead?

Thank you Anne for letting me know that this field is populated with a hard coded value and not an "if then else" statement.  It would make more sense to me if it worked like this:

If 'Category' is not null then item = Category else Category = 'BMC Discovered'

Or even provide a system level variable that would give the admin a choice to enter either dynamic data or your own values or the default value...
