    Control-M/Restart - SYSOUT datasets CTRSYS.JOBSDB.*

    Pavel Grund

      Hello,

we use Control-m for z/OS and CTM/Restart as well. We have around 300 datasets with prefix CTRSYS.JOBSDB in TEST region

and around 700 datasets in PROD region.

In Control-M/Restrart User Guide is only information:

Archived (compressed) SYSDATA of the previous run of the PRDJBGL5 job is

dynamically allocated by the CONTROLR step. On this sample run, the name of

this archived file starts with the prefix CTRSYS.JOBSDB.

I am wondering, if there is some recommendation of how to manage these datasets.

I guess they are needed just for the Restart proccess of abended job.

      Thank you for help

      Best regards

      Pavel

I have got deeper in user documentation and have got some more information. Deletion of archived SYSDATA is managed automaticaly by Newday procedure - CTMTDAY

05.00.32 DAS613I DELETE OF ARCHIVED SYSOUTS STARTED

05.00.32 DAS614I DELETE OF ARCHIVED SYSOUTS ENDED

Deleted archived SYSOUT are the data, which do not belong to history file.

If we have a uneeded records in AJF, for example jobs with status DELETED, we might want to use Utility CTMAJF. This utility can Compres AJF, which will make a space in AJF.
