    Scanning file servers

    Michael D

When scanning file servers can I see content of the files (for example users word documents)?

      Size of documents?

It is my understanding that kind of content does not belong to a CMDB. Only data about infrastructure and their relationships.

      Am I wrong or?

      With kind regards

Standard discovery makes no attempt to get this kind of file. It would look at configuration files.

It would be possible to write a pattern to get file information though this does not seem like a good idea. There will be lots of files and what real use does it have? It seems more appropriate to a backup system. Getting the contents would not be sensible, you will end up with massive datastore very quickly as it would store the content of all the files.
