It is certainly possible:
For Self Service users (SS 3.0), use the link:
Replace the bolded part of the URL with the domain used by your org and ID with the knowledgearticle record id:
If you want to open the article without loading the SelfService portal but just the Knowledge Article page itself, then use the link:
This can be used by Staff users as well.

Hi! I tried to follow these instructions, but they seem to not work. Is there any update on the link due to Lightning UI change?
In addition, is the an idea already existing for this to get this easier? E.g. There could be an icon in each of the forms from where you would get the link.
