DefinitionExport.bat - How to export Images and Flashboards ?

    Joachim Pakulla

The documentation of DefintionExport.bat does not specify parameter for exporting Images and Flashboards (see https://docs.bmc.com/docs/ars91/en/definitionimport-and-definitionexport-options-609071883.html).

Are there some 'hidden' paramters to fullfill this task ? The tool is able to export Images, since they are exported when you name them in a packinglist or when you use Developer Studio to export them.

      Best regards,

      Joachim

I can see option for flashboards : (-fb) (v9.x)

For Images, you can try to export application object or packing list object option.

          C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem9\DeveloperStudio>DefinitionExport.bat

          Nested Options:

-a <active_link_name> for an active link

              -A for all active links

              -b <DSO_pool_name> for a DSO pool

              -B for all DSO pools

              -d <DSO_mapping_name> for a single DSO mapping

              -D for all DSO mappings

              -f <form_name> for a form

              -F for all forms

-g <active_link_guide_name> for an active link guide

-G for all active link guides

              -h <filter_guide_name> for a filter guide

              -H for all filter guides

              -k <packing_list_name> for a packing list object

              -K for packing list objects

-l <packing_list.xml> for an XML command set. Provide either a command set file generated by Developer Studio or a packing list XML file generated by the Windows Admin Tool.

              -m <menu_name> for a menu

              -M for menus

-n <application_name> for an application object

              -N for all application objects

              -q <escalation_name> for an escalation

              -Q for all escalations

              -t <filter_name> for a filter

              -T for all filters

              -z <web_service_name> for a web service

              -Z for all web services

              -fb <flashboard_name> for a flashboard

              -FB for all flashboards

-fa <flashboard_alarm_name> for a flashboard alarm

              -FA for all flashboard alarms

-fv <flashboard_variable_name> for a flashboard variable

              -FV for all flashboard variables

            Dear Ganesh,

thanks for your fast responce. Good to see that flashboards got their own parameter in 9.x.

From my point of view two separate parameter for images (all/single) would be fine.

As stated above, placing images in a package list and exporting using this package list is working fine. But were using the DefinitionExport.bat to perform an automatic backup of our Remedy development separated by object types. To export all images a script currently would first need to fetch all images names,  create a package list specifying all images and then run DefintiionExport.bat with this packing list. Possible ... but having separate paramenter would be easier :-)

That's true. You can raise an idea for it
