What is the future of BMC HRCM?

      Hello,

Does anyone have an insight to the future of the BMC HRCM product?  It appears BMC is promoting a newer product, BMC Workflows (Business Workflows - BMC Software) built on the Innovation Suite that will track HR "cases".  There seems to be some overlap and functionality and use cases.

      Thanks in advance,

          Hello Michael,

          thanks for the question.

HR Case Management continues to be sold and supported. With Business Workflows, we started to build a new case management application on the Innovation Suite cloud platform. It can be used by multiple lines of businesses/departments and is applicable to a broader range of use cases than HRCM. There is overlap in functionality between HRCM and Business Workflows which will increase over time. We hope that HRCM customers will evaluate Business Workflows as we introduce new functionality such as our cognitive service management strategy.

Please contact your BMC account manager if you would like to learn more about Business Workflows.

          Best regards,

            Juergen,

I’ve been looking through the Business Workflows documentation and this application appears to have numerous areas of overall with the Remedy ITSM Incident and Knowledge Mgmt modules.  Especially when it comes to using those modules in the Smart IT interface.  Business Workflows does not seem like it would be a value add for organizations that have invested in the ITSM product line.  Can you address this overlap in functionality?  Also, how would Business Workflows integrate with on-premises ITSM customers who also are using Smart IT and MyIT on-premises.  There also seems to be numerous feature gaps between HRCM and Business Workflows.  Although it’s nice to see BMC developing apps on Innovation Suite, I don’t fully understand the target audience for Business Workflows.  Lastly, when you say HRCM will still be sold and support, what is the future for new functionality and features to be introduced?  Or is HRCM EOL?

Thanks for your time and inputs,

I'm also curious if Business Workflows will be enhanced to include all the features that HR Case offers - the ability to mark fields as confidential; verification questions; etc. I need to play more with Business Workflows to see what else is missing, but if the direction is to use Business Workflows instead of HR Case for HR departments, there is more work to do. Looking forward to seeing what BMC adds to it!

Can anyone from BMC respond to the follow-up questions both Anne and I asked in the last two posts?  Is there no longer a Product Manager for HRCM?  Or has that team been transitioned to the Business Workflows product?  I'm getting a feeling that HRCM is a dead product but Business Workflows does not yet seem like a viable replacement.

                  Hi Michael and Anne,

Our customers asked us for a case management solution for other departments/lines of business than IT (e.g. facilities, marketing). For IT, the ITSM product line is the best and recommended solution. BWF is not a replacement in any kind. Also, BWF is currently not a replacement for HRCM and as such HRCM is not EOL. As you and Anne pointed out there are gaps when you compare HRCM to BWF, we are looking at them and will work on closing them in the future.

                  Best regards,

Hi Juergen - do you know what the end of life is for the various Case versions?  We are on 4.0 at the moment.

                    Thanks very much,
