BSA 8.9 - Health Dashboard always showing Free Space warning for database even though it's not true

    Yanick Girouard

Fresh install of BSA 8.9, app server is barely done configuring, and the only thing that shows as non-compliant in the Health Dashboard is this:

      2016-10-13_15-58-01.png

However, the DBA has increased the size (it's set on auto-growth) to this:

      2016-10-13_15-57-33.png

There should be 46% free space now. The DBA updated the statistics but it didn't change. I restarted the app server but that didn't help.

Where is this information taken from and why is it not updating?

          Try running the command?

Why would re-running the blcli command that generates the report help here ?

I doubt it would too, but if that doesn't do it, do you know what does?

I see, the blcli command seems to be executing the queries to collect the reported information. So, just checking if rerunning the command may collects the correct info.

is the space in the screenshot you sent for a particular data file ?  or the sum of space for the data and index files ?

It's what I see when I check the db options in SQL Management Studio Express. It's a fresh install of BSA, it's almost empty, so I doubt indexes would be very large. Still, where is the Dashboard getting its info from exactly when analyzing the database Free Space?

Actually Santhosh was right. The report generated with the blcli command has the right / up-to-date percentage values for the database free space, but the live dashboard does not refresh.

Is there not a command to force it to refresh its cache and fetch new database stats?

when you hit the main dashboard page the appserver you hit should pull the latest off the file server from fsroot/dashboard. that's based on the directory listed in the latestmetadata.tmp or something like that that's in the root of the directory.

                        so maybe that isn't happening.

Oh, you're right. I had not re-logged in to the dashboard after running the report, and I was just trying to refresh with CTRL-F5. I just re-logged and now it's showing the right values.
