this should be in the planning section some where:
look in blasadmin for each instance at the database connection pools. what are the maxes for general, job and client ? add them all up. that's the max your env could use.
Thanks Bill. I only see the following entries in the blasadmin Modifying the value of which of these would help
so for this instance, you need 300 connections = 300 processes.
also - if this is a job or all instance it should have 200 maxjobexecutionconnections if maxwit is 100.
so add up these values from the other instances and that is value you need to set for 'processes' for the bladelogic db user.
please do not lower these settings.
Thanks for the quick response.
If one servers is capable of taking only 300 connection = 300 processes when i just restarted just one config server why would 3400 processes get released. I am trying to understand this.
When you say “restarted a server” did you mean you restarted a single instance of the appserver or you restarted multiple instances of the appserver running on a single system ?
Sorry I actaully restarted just the blappserv & procserv on config server.
Ok, and there is only a CONFIG instance on this box, nothing else ?
Yes there is only one config instance on this server.
i'm not sure why a single instance would use that many connections - especially a config server. did the dba actually capture the per-server connection usage prior to the restart ?
Need to check with them. I dont know if they captured the per servers connection Usage
