From the logs it can be seen that the installation failed because the tomcat server did not come up during the installation.

Also, I see that you have used an IP as the hostname while installation. It is recommended that you use FQDN while installing Atrium SSO Server. Can you try the installation by providing the hostname as FQDN?
For e.g Hostname = sso.example.com and the cookie domain as : example.com
Let us know if that goes through.
my vm isn't connected to the domain, its not a prerequisite to right?
I get an error when I used the hostname instead of IP
The host name is not fully qualified it must include the domain name.
Not it is not necessary that the machine has to be in domain.
You can add an entry in your hosts file pointing the IP to the hostname.
Also, how do the end users access the application like Mid-Tier, Dashboard, Analytics etc currently? Is it through IP or hostname?
