Tip: Configuring External DB connection for MS SCOM integration

      Situation:

Cannot connect to MS SQL Server 2012 (AlwaysOn) with Windows Authentication

Using FreeTDS tsql CLI, we receive error: "Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication."

      Solution:

For Windows Authentication, configure "Other database" as documented in Moviri Integrator for TrueSight Capacity Optimization - Microsoft SCOM - BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization 10.5 - BMC …  and select net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver as the JDBC driver.

We had to append useNTLMv2=true in the JDBC URL, so it looks like follows:

      jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://***:1433;DatabaseName=***;domain=***;useNTLMv2=true

(substitute *** with respective host, database and Domain names)

Hope this tip saves some time to those running into a similar situation.

      Regards,

      Steffen
