    Duplicate Blade Logic Environment

    Orhan Taskin

      Hello,

      We are planning to duplicate the our existing BL environment. I see the documentation

      Moving or duplicating a BMC Server Automation environment - BMC Server Automation 8.6 - BMC Documentation

      however steps for MSSQL Server is missing for moving the databases and export/import schema.

      is anyone has instruction for MSSQL?

      Thanks,

          i'll update the doc:

          set the db to single user mode.  this will require stopping the appservers and anything else connecting to the db.  and then do the export.

          To set a database to single-user mode

          1. 1.     In Object Explorer, connect to an instance of the SQL Server Database Engine, and then expand that instance.
          2. 2.     Right-click the database to change, and then click Properties.
          3. 3.     In the Database Properties dialog box, click the Options page.
          4. 4.     From the Restrict Access option, select Single.
          5. 5.     If other users are connected to the database, an Open Connections message will appear. To change the property and close all other connections, click Yes.

          Or

          USE master;

          GO

          ALTER DATABASE BLADELOGIC

          SET SINGLE_USER

          WITH ROLLBACK BLADELOGIC;

          GO

          ALTER DATABASE BLADELOGIC

          SET READ_ONLY;

          GO

          ALTER DATABASE BLADELOGIC

          SET MULTI_USER;

          GO

            When you say do the export? Do you mean do a full database backup to dump into file system?

              Yes.  shutdown the appservers, put the db in single user mode and do a backup so you can restore it to the other system.
