i would think a standard deploy job w/ the silent install commands for IE 11 would do it. i don’t think bsa will update ie from one major version to another because that’s not patching. it would instead apply patches to ie 8.
Yes, that's what I thought about. Using patching, its not possible to update from one major version to another.
So should I create msi package with silent install commands or should I create custom software with silent commands in order to deploy IE11 on target Win 2008R2 servers?
& if we update from IE8 to IE11 using standard deploy job, is it possible to check for minor updates for IE11 that is hotfixes or patches using patch catalog for Windows Server 2008R2 with filter for "Internet Explorer"? I mean does patch catalog include hotfixes or patches for IE11 in 8.6.01?

You should be able to patch IE11 once installed using patching jobs afaik.
If you have downloaded an .exe use custom software, for .msi use msi package.
You can install IE11 however you want.
