    Similar Instance Name:ADDM

      Hi All.

I am looking for possibility of getting different name of SI if the same software has number of instance on Server.

I know it might be confusing so lets start with as example

I have one server where Apache webserver has 5 running instances which have same Primary processes, Publisher,Server Root, even everything else is same like SI name, Type, Finding Pattern, Primary process

but the only attribute which deferes among all is Config File .

So ADDM when makes the SI out of all  it named them as

"Apache webserver on Host"           which for CMDB team          while looking at CI consider it as Duplicate.

Config file is different for all 5 instance but for Asset Viewer it looks all same.

Below is the followup examples on my previous mail, where i told you about an example of Multiple CI with same name but different Config File which is not getting transfered to CMDB.

                Config   File   /etc/httpd/conf/httpd84.conf

                Config File   /etc/httpd/conf/httpd85.conf

                Config File   /etc/httpd/conf/httpd81.conf

                Config File   /etc/httpd/conf/httpd82.conf

               Apache_webser_SI.JPG Config   File   /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf

So to answer  Audit question, i am planning to modify the SyncMappping  pattern for middleware products  which adds  SI counter to each SI

      Apache WebServer1 on Host

Apache WebServer2 on Host ...... so on

do you think its a good idea to modify the SyncMapping pattern or do we have any other way to remediate such issue

I want to know how People solve this kind of scenario

          Hello Jayendra,

With the syncmap approach, you'll have a different name in ADDM as what's in the CMDB.

If you really have to modify the name, you can trigger a pattern off of the SI and rename it by adding the configuration filename to it (if it's available on all instances) and then you'll have the same name in both ADDM and CMDB.
