how did you create the catalog? online catalog? offline downloader ? what version of bsa/downloader (8.6.what) ?
We use console and BSA version 8.6.01.66
Its an offline catalog. We create the catalog out of an internal Repository (which will be refreshed regularly) and freeze the catalog so that all stages gets the same patches.
For RHEL5 I found the workaround to recreate the repo manually afterwards on the filesystem with the command:
createrepo -s sha .
Then I can patch against this repo.
you still didn't answer how you created the catalog. what does "We create the catalog out of an internal Repository" mean ?
if you want to use a 'external' repo w/ bsa please follow: Migrating patch repositories for Red Hat Enterprise Linux - BMC Server Automation Documentation - BMC Documentation
From the BSA Console, I did right-click on our Patch-Catalog-Folder -> New -> Patch Catalog -> Red Hat Patch Catalog. Then Choose offline Catalog like the screenshot above.
In the meanwhile I found another solution. We have to install the library
python-hashlib on all our RHEL5 servers so that they understand the checksum type sha256 from the metafiles in patch catalog.
ok, and then the 'offline' repo was created how? did you follow the documentation noted here: Migrating patch repositories for Red Hat Enterprise Linux - BMC Server Automation Documentation - BMC Documentation
The offline repo is what we sync on weekly base from our company global team. We are told its the same structure as before when it was successful.
I will definitely go through the docs you mentioned.
Thanks a lot
