no idea? Also unsure, whether it is design or bug? Or nobody using the calendar?
I believe its by design, I tried that in BMC lab environment that I have access to and noticed the same it is displaying the data for new change/date only
I have not used Smart IT but if you see OOTB Change Queries are defined and you can view those queries. But if as per screen shot I see all date fields on left side panel are empty. Have you tried populating the dates?
I have tried selecting the date and by creating changes. Those created changes doesn't show up. Have to check if there is a config for this
Try Smart-IT first. Then reply.
Think about the following:
If you wanted to schedule a new appointment in your personal calendar, wouldn’t you check for existing entries BEFORE creating a new one? Won't you search for a free time slot first? Wouldn't you try to avoid conflicts?
Issue with Smart-IT is, that you do not see a single entry, after opening the calendar. The calendar view is absolutely empty in Smart-IT. You have to create a new entry before you can see the existing ones. This is definitively not the way to work with a calendar. Doesn't make sense at all.
Agree with you, doesn't make sense. One thing I didn't try in my steps is to select a CI to check if that makes any difference as mentioned here..
With a CI selected, you will eventually get to see collisions (provided there are any) over the given period of the change.
I am experiencing the same issue and have been working directly with BMC technitions who have advised that this is definitley by design. Apparently the Smart IT calendar has been designed to only show other changes which Remedy identifies as potential 'collisions' based on CI's, Affected Services, etc which have been specified within the CRQ itself.
I completely agree with the comments I've ready above about it being far more useful to be able to see all changes before submitting your new change. The 'collision' functionality is good, but there are far more factors that need to be considered when scheduling a change which Remedy cannot track (e.g. human resource availability, etc).
I hope the content of this calendar and the ability to view the calendar without first having to open a CRQ will be changed soon, however given the date stamps on the above comments I'm not holding out much hope.

According to the document on Change Request - Plan and Schedule, this would be by design. Here's a snippet from the documentation located in:
"When you create a change request, the calendar does not show any other existing changes for the same period. In Smart IT only individual change request, and in case of collision, the corresponding change requests that have collision are displayed. When you create multiple change requests and add the same CI to the change requests, it pushes the calendar to show the collisions. In Mid tier, change calendar shows changes happening regardless of collision."
This is just the answer for your Question Thomas Hammer "Design or Defect"
Collision Detection may be an additional function, but certainly not a major feature. If an Calandar available i like to see also other Changes.
We do not need the calendar to specify the new date only. We primarily need to know the existing schedules and especially the business events to be able to plan the newly created change request accordingly.
