    BSA 8.5.01.304 - Error when auditing registry REG_QWORD value

    Yanick Girouard

      This was reproduced in both Windows 2008 and 2012 using the latest version of the 8.5 RSCD agent. Whenever we try to run an audit job to compare a REG_QWORD value, the following error is thrown in the audit job run logs:

      Error28-Aug-2015 2:04:46 PMjava.lang.RuntimeException: illegal registry value type: path = '\Tata' type = 'REG_QWORD', Error: illegal registry value type: path = '\Tata' type = 'REG_QWORD'

      , Error: An error occurred while attempting to access the database:

      )

      Error28-Aug-2015 2:04:48 PMThe job 'Audit Test for QWORD value' has failed

      To reproduce:

      1. On a master server, create a new registry key in a location of your choice.

      2. In that key, create a new QWORD value, and set it to anything (type in random numbers until you can't type anymore) and save it.

      3. Export the key into a .reg file and import it on another server to audit.

      4. Create a new audit job that compares the key (not the value, that's what I did) and leave the reccurse checkbox checked.

      5. Launch the audit job against the other server and you should see the error soon.

      Is this a known defect and if so, would anyone have the defect for it?
