    Need help to install patches which are subscribed in tuner workspace.

      @

      Am new to BBCA, Can someone please help me to solve the following issue:

       

      I have released set of Patches to Windows7 OS machines from Patch Manager.

       

      But on few endpoints, the patches were subscribed in tuner workspace and not getting installed.

       

      When i checked the actionhistory.log file, the patches were showing in missing status.

       

      I have restarted/updated the tuner, Re-subscribed the Patch service, done Tuner Health Check on the machine - but still the patches are showing in Workspace only.

       

      How to troubleshoot further.

          Hi Kavitha,

           

          Are you using policy manager, If yes then update policy service on enpoints. I believe that updating policy service will Install patches.

            Yes, am using Policy manager, i have updated the same and the particular patch group was already added in the channel list. But still the patches are not getting installed. Showing in workspace only.

              Have you set Action=Install to patches which you have added.

              Please share Patch service channel History logs of any 1-2 endpoints which are facing problem.

                Yes the patch action should be set for the patches to install. It can be done from Patch Manager -> Click on the Patch Group -> Selection Action from the menu -> Select "install".

                Then republish the patch group and "update" patch service on the endpoint.

                    Hi Gregory,

                     

                    In patch manager --> created group and added all the required patches and then changed those patches from Do Nothing to Install and then i published the patch group.

                     

                    Please correct me if anything wrong i did in the steps.

                      Thats great.. lets get a couple of channel history logs from some of the endpoints.

                       

                      p.s: All the service channels should only run on endpoints. If you have it on a server you might want need to take into consideration the way you do reboots after patch installs/uninstalls

                          I have doubt whether my policy service is running properly on the endpoint. How to confirm that?

                            Problem solved after restarted the repeater and did fsck on the endpoints.

                                You are Welcome, are you using subnet based repeater ploicy for Repeaters?
