I don't have documentation, but we upgraded to 8.6SP1 in our Dev environment and it seems to have fixed all of the issues we came across in 8.6P1. The only issue we are having is with the new addition of the quick start page, which is non-critical and only released with 8.6SP1 so it has never been a part of our process.
The issue we are having with the quick start page, however, doesn't seem as though it is an issue if you upgrade using the UPI.
As far as we know as of now, the quick start page doesn't install if you don't use the UPI, but we are trying to get information on that.
Thought it might be helpful to hear from someone on 8.6SP1
we are also looking at it in the Lab, but right now we only tested the UPI update process , which worked fine on the second attempt.
I say second, because initially we had some challenges with the PXE Update process.
Can you share which "fiasco" you have seen with 8.6 ?
As we want to go from 8.3.2 to 8.6.1 i am very interested in what people had issues with in 8.6 GA.
8.6P1 wasn't using the blasadmin configuration for proxies. Therefore, if you had an http proxy, the catalog update process would fail as it didn't know how to communicate out to shavlik, oracle etc... I am not sure if the reason behind the issue was the same but there were issues with using NSH proxies as well.
The console would lock up after a certain amount of time or if left overnight, so it had to be closed and opened everyday instead of just re logging in.
Those are just the things that I came across or I remember seeing on other communities posts.
I am no longer having these issues in 8.6SP1 so they fixed a bunch and it seems to be Production Ready with no show stoppers.
Thx for Sharing.
I also had seen these overnight lockups in my LAb on 8.6 P1, but i thought that was due to the limited ressources of my LAB....
This was confirmed that it would be fixed by 8.6 SP1 in a different post, and I am no longer having any console lock ups.
I don't believe the SP1 release notes are out yet, because it's not available yet is it?
The latest release notes for 8.6 can be found here: Release notes and notices - BMC Server Automation 8.6 - BMC Documentation
8.6 SP1 is not available on EPD as yet. It is available through support but its meant for those customers that have migrated to 8.6 GA release and have encountered issues. It will be available on EPD soon for everyone to download.
