    Live Browse--Hotfix error

    Namdeo Patil

Getting below error while accessing Hotfix through Live browse

WARN  com.bladelogic.om.infra.client.ui.rcp.BLWorkbenchPlugin - Command execution failed: exitCode = 2, error: cksum: Cannot open file //xxxxxxxxxx/C/Program Files/BMC Software/BladeLogic/RSCD/sbin/hfcli.exe: Connection timed out

      //xxxxxxxxx/C/Program Files/BMC Software/BladeLogic/RSCD/sbin/hfcli.exe: Connection timed out

Agent is up and running--can live browse other contents ( File system--Local Users).

Not any error logged in rscd.log.

      RSCD agent: 8.2 SP1 437

      Thanks,

      Namdeo

If you live browse from your local client, please check the console logs.

          %appdata%\BladeLogic\1_2_1\Workspace2\.metadata - <may not be the same Workspace>

Have you tried manual update of the Shavlik files from the Patch Global Configuration.

yes manual update is fine --tried with replaced the hfcli.exe but still same issue.

so 'xxxx' here is the target server ?  is there anything in the appserver log or file server agent log when you get this error  ?

so that looks like some kind of timeout issue ...do you use an AP to talk to the server ?

                        Namdeo Patil

                        Thanks Bill,

We are not using AP and socks proxy as well,

                        Tried with BLAdmins/B:Admin

                        users.local file:

                        BLAdmins:* rw,map=<AdminAccount>

Other activity on this server are fine.

                        Thanks,

                        Namdeo

                        • 9. Re: Live Browse--Hotfix error

During the patching the md5sum of the files on the target are being compared to the files on appserver. If the files are different than the files from the appserver are being copied to the target. It seems that for some reason there is a problem with that.

As a workaround you can try to manually copy the file from the appserver to the target and check if the issue still exists. While doing that please make sure that the copied file is owned by the user you are mapping to and please backup the original file from the target in order to restore it later if needed.

                          Regards,

                          Vladimir

                            - How long (time it) does it take for the error to show up after you click refresh on the Hotfixes in the Live Browse screen?

                            - Is the agent accessible through a Socks Proxy or is it direct connection from the app server ? If a Socks Proxy is used, what is the name/version of the Socks server software?

Are you using a socks proxy?

If yes you will have to configure your app servers to use nsh proxy to get round this issue, as when it does the md5checksum it tries to do this directly with nsh on the app server and won't go through the socks proxy

I'm not using SOCKS proxy for communicate this server,

I/m using SRP authentication with BLAdmins:BLAdmin  users.

Able to browse File System--Local Users--other folders but only problem with accessing Hotfix, getting error after 1 mins.

                                Thanks,

from the appserver that you are connected to, can you run the nsh cp command to copy the file from the path in the error to the path on the target ?

My mistake..configured Dante socks proxy on Linux system for connect to this targets,

                                    Socks proxy version: Version 1.4.0-1.el5.rf

@Mike: tried with NSH proxy but no luck.

@Bill, checking the  nsh cp command

                                    Thanks,
