    Error Generating Workflow Content

      Hey, a few months ago we made a few changes to the contract module, so only people with contract permissions (vs asset) could see them, and people only saw the conracts they/their groups were responsible for.

      Also if the contract is historical, all fields except the status will be read only.

       

      In the past week there have been two instances of an error being received by one of our clients when she tries to open a contract.

       

      Error generating workflow content.  Try to clear the browser cache and reload page.  See Mid-Tier log for details. (Dec 9, 2014 11:11:13:50 AM)

      The midtier log, of course, just regurgitates the same error.

       

      The solution has been to restart the services and clear the cache files, but we dislkie having to do this on a regular basis (ie more than twice a week) and this is a somewhat troubling error.  Anyone have any ideas?

          Is This happening for a specific user ?

           

          Is this happening on a specific Browser? Have you tried same with that user on some other Browser?

            We recently upgraded to 8.1.02 and started getting this on a single form, clearing the cache helped....what version of Mid-Tier are you running, and have you found the root cause?

              So far it looks like just the one user.  She tried logging in to Remedy on somebody else's machine and got the same error.

                No clue so far as to the cause, LJ.  Clearing the cache does help, but it's a rather poor solution, since we have to do it after hours and if she gets the error in the morning she's stuck until the next day..

                 

                We're on 8.1.01

                  Still no idea what the cause is, but I deleted the client's User Preferences and that seemed to have fixed the problem!  A better bandaid than clearing the server cache

                    We are suffering from what seems to be a similar issue. Our customization was to add a link to the business manager console from the service request. Randomly, users that don’t have business manager role hit this error. Giving the role fix the issue (without flushing anything). Disabling the calling Guide suppress the error as well. This is clearly a right issue and possibly a bad design pattern on our side… We are able to reproduce in Test.

                     

                    A call is open with BMC support. Let see where it leads. But given that your customization was touching permission as well, we might just have hit a midtier bug.

                      Hi

                       

                      Did you ever get a reply back from BMC Software with regards to this error? We are busy running Remedy Version 8.1.02 201408260235 midtier and everything works ok - however when we click on "Request Now" for a SRD we are getting the same error:

                       

                      "Error generating workflow content. try to clear the browser cache and reload page. Form SRS:SREC_ProvideInformation"


                      We have cleared cache and even rebooted the web server - no luck. We have also delete the user preferences which did not help.

                       

                      Any direction would be appreciated

                          This fixed the problem Bradley Murphy had

                           

                          Stop Tomcat (Jsp Engine) Service.

                          Clear out the contents of the 'work', 'temp' & 'logs' folders inside Tomcat X.X folder

                          Clear out the contents of the 'cache', 'cachetemp', 'attstore' and 'logs' folders present inside the Mid-Tier folder.

                          Delete 'viewStats.dat' and 'viewStats.dat.bak' from <Mid-Tier folder>\WEB-INF\Classes if present.

                          Start the Tomcat (Jsp Engine) Service.

                          Clear browser cache/cookies/etc completely.

                            Unfortunately, as I mentioned before, it is a rather poor solution since my client is unable to do anything until after hours when we can stop the services and take down all of production (this is generally frowned upon during work hours unless absolutely necessary)

                             

                            I have had BMC looking at it, however my client's work hours are unpredictable, so it is difficult to reproduce the issue in order to collect logs, so it is going slowly.

                              Rahul, try logging in as another admin user and deleting your User Preferences record (AR+System+User+Preference), or that of any user experiencing the error.

                                Hi All,

                                 

                                BMC supplied me the steps as this was a Known Defect.

                                 

                                here ars the steps whcih worked form me.

                                 

                                1.Take backup of AP:Rule Definition and AP:Notification Form

                                2. Open Form in Dev Studio- Go to Search view- Look for Table Field with ID-1020.

                                3. Right Click on This Table Field- Select Convert To Custom

                                4. A warning Message Will Come, Now Close the form without saving- Table Field Is Gone from Search View.

                                5. Flush Mid-Tier Browser Cache.

                                6. Now Form is opening

                                  Did you managed to get any response/fix to the issue which you are facing while clicking the SRM - Request Now button.

                                   

                                  I am also receiving the same issue : "Error generating workflow content. try to clear the browser cache and reload page. Form SRS:SREC_ProvideInformation"

                                   

                                  Tried hard cache flush for midtier, restaring server etc.

                                    Still something that I need to look at as part of my project work. I actually need to escalate this to BMC Software as I haven’t been able to find a solution that works.

                                     

                                    If I find anything then I will let you guys all know. Please let me know if you guys come across any solutions.
