Are there any benefits in adding servers to static server groups instead of leaving them under root node and using smart server groups?

I've always wondered what was the real use of static server groups? We've always added servers to the root node, and we use smart server groups to select the ones we need based on customer and OS or other properties.

Can someone give me good use cases to use static server groups over smart server groups to organize target servers? Are there any security reasons (RBAC-wise) to do so?
