Have you tried tar with -j or -z? -C should help you with dirs
you may need to use something like this
tar -zcvf archive.tar.gz directory/
zip -r myzip /directory
the nsh tar won't gzip, you have to do it in two steps.
Can you please tell me how to do it?
I have used zip -r option and its working.
tar cfv /tmp/ball.tar //some/dir
