    Empty values in compliance rules

On Windows systems. Mostly security settings and registry values: "Null" works, but I am running into some instances where there is no value and when I use "null" it returns non-compliant. Looks like this:

      Left side          Right side

                               "null"               non-compliant

I have tried "" but in the rules, it takes this literally and returns non-compliant with """" on the right side. Are there other ways to account for a blank value?
