Do these have the ‘auto remediation’ set ?
No they are just set to analyse, no remediation at all.
It's happening with both previous jobs from the upgrade and new jobs that we have created.
Are there still processes on the target running when it hangs (e.g. blpatchcheck2.exe )
and are the temporary result files under [RSCD_DIR]\tmp still in place ?
blpatchcheck2.exe isn't running on any of the servers and each individual is showing complete.
When I check the tmp dir i can see a blpatchcheck2.lck file and a Trace.txt on all of the servers and 2 out of the 3 we tested also have a WindowsCatalog directory.
Some are running previous agent versions ranging from 8.2 and 8.3 systems as we haven't got round to upgrading them all yet.
It also looks like this only happens the first time we run a patch analysis job. if we cancel and then re-run it seems to finalize ok
I'm running into the same issue that the analysis job doesn't complete. Did you find a reason for this behaviour or even a fix?
In my case it is a RHEL6 and a Windows analysis job. Strange thing it only happens "sometimes". Job is running every night and every x night it doesn't complete. Auto-Remediation is not enabled.
Looking at the log it seems that the individual analysis steps have been performed on the servers. Only the job doesn't complete.
Same for Windows...
Addition: BSA 8.5 SP1 Patch 1, all RSCD agents on 8.5 SP1 Patch 1
Can you attach the job run log ?
This is possibly related to a known issue fixed in 8.5.01 patch2
Are you referring to this defect?
QM001859524 Job After upgrading to BMC Server Automation 8.5 SP1, Patch analysis job hangs while creating analysis result items. 8.5.01 8.5.01.002
yes - that's the one. was that the one affecting your env ?
Yes it was. We installed patch 2 and now the issue is resolved.
Thanks, Bill, for pointing me into the right direction!
