You can add fields actually in Mobility 8.1, but it'll work only for native clients (ios).
I'll try to help a bit, but it's been a while since I played with it during the beta but well...
If you want to use the field on "edit", you need to be sure to have the fields on:
-> HPD:Help Desk (I think Mobility View, I'm not sure anymore if it's mandatory),
I added a field "jason_field" (character 10, public change / allow anyone to submit) in "Best Practice View - fr".
So the form and this view are in overlay.
And "Mobility" view:
Then I went to the "mobility administration console" and declared the field:
And modified the "layout" to display the field:
Once you save everything, wait for a couple of minutes so the template goes to the Mobility servers and on the Ios "reset" the layout for the Incident app (Settings->Reset) so they can load the load layout.
As for the operational catalog, it'll be kinda the same thing, but harder since you'll have to use menus and stuff, but since in Mobility 8.1 you have the "product catalog" dropdowns already there declared in the xml, it'll give you an example of what you need to do as adding a panel, which menu putting and which action.
But yeah, sadly it seems that "Date/Time" aren't editable on Mobility 8.1...
Maybe you'll have to add an extra character field.
Btw... What I gave was maybe for edit an incident, I don't know anymore if you have the same screen when you log a new incident...
So we have added filters to ensure our staff add Tier1, Tier2 and Tier3 Operation categories on ticket creation, doesn't seem like I can add those to the mobile clients? Also, we have an edit in place that forces staff to enter time before closing/resolving an incident. That field for time entry isn't even an option for a mobile client?
I'm thinking this solution would be great if you do NOTHING to the Remedy ISTM app but is useless if you even make one extra field required, I'm surely missing something here?
Is there some way I can determine the client is a mobile client within my qualification string for a filter, so I can at least set defaults for these field for mobile clients?
