SNMPConnection main product component

This solution requires the purchase of a PATROL Enterprise Manager Connect SNMP (cSNMP) license if you don’t already have one (contact your BMC Software Sales person). This solution is based on a version of cSNMP. This solution provides a one-way integration between PEM and any platform sending SNMP traps. This solution supports out-of-the-box SNMP trap normalization to the Common Event Format (CEF), as well as advanced message enrichment capabilities through the use of the PATROL Message Enhancement Processor (PMEP).

PATROL Active Sonar Knowledge

Module (PATROL KM)

The PATROL Active Sonar knowledge module (KM) checks the status of key servers in the enterprise via the UNIX ICMP ping facility and sends event information to PEM. This KM is not a network manager; rather it provides a means of monitoring the network availability of specific servers. The solution allows manipulation of ICMP ping packet size, count, monitoring times for each node, as well as the ability to disable individual node, or the entire application.

Sybase extended stored procedures

The Extended Stored Procedure Library (v4.3 5/98) is helpful when trying to investigate or document a PEM-Sybase environment. This collection of over 60 stored procedures is a must for Sybase systems, extending the system-stored procedures with new formats (80 column output...) and many other features.

SybPerl 2.10 utility

Sybperl is a package of extensions to Perl that add Sybase db_library API calls to the Perl language. The combination results in an extremely powerful scripting tool for Sybase DBA's and programmers because it blends the existing strengths of Perl with the Sybase API. This extended functionality is useful when the combination of shell scripts with isql is too limited and writing a C program is overkill.

Taild and Spit utilities for Windows

The tailsock.exe is the Windows equivalent to the UNIX taild and spit utilities. When started, this utility tries continuously to connect to a PEM listener path. If the path is down for whatever reason, this utility continuously attempts to reconnect the path. Logging, debugging, and version reporting are supported. For convenience, this solution includes the two PEM listener path templates (tcpListen and multiListener).

VNC – Virtual Network Computing

VNC stands for Virtual Network Computing. It is, in essence, a remote display system which allows you to view a computing 'desktop' environment not only on the machine where it is running, but from anywhere on the Internet and from a wide variety of machine architectures.  This Freeware allows you remotely access a PEM server UNIX desktop from anywhere on the net via PC, UNIX Browser, etc.  Unlike a typical X session, when a connection is lost, or established from somewhere else, it is exactly as you left it.
