# Smart Reporting percentages

Hi,

I'm trying to create a percentage field by dividing one ticket count by another but I can't get it to return a decimal value from the division, only integers.

For instance

1/4 = 0  instead of .25

4/1 = 4

4/3 = 1  instead of 1.33

3/4 = 0  instead of .75

It's using the correct numbers for the calculation but the division doesn't return anything but an integer, I've tried every format option I can find.

Thanks,

Bill

Hello Bill,

First of all wish you and your loved ones very Happy New Year...!

You can use the advance function property if you have the multiple metric fields of ticket counts as show in below example.

I pull closed tickets field twice and applied advance function on second closed tickets field. Within advance function, use the option 'Percentage against Column' and then select 'Number of Incidents' from the columns section.

See if it helps you.

Regards,

Abhay

Alternatively, both dividend and divisor in your example are integers, thus result is cast as integer as well; this can be changed by converting at least one value into real number either by multiplying or dividing by 1.0 (e.g. (<value1> * 1.0) / <value 2>, or <value1> / (<value2> / 1.0)).

That works, Thanks Sinisa!
