This is not available in Track-It! 2018 yet because we are working on a better solution than converting items from tickets to assignments. We are looking at something that is more in line with problem management where you can create a master ticket with linked tickets but it is not available yet.

We are wanting to do the same thing.
This is tentatively slated for the next release this fall. Just for clarity, we are not providing the ability to turn tickets into assignments. We are providing the ability to turn tickets into parent and child tickets. Assignments are still just the tasks assigned to individuals in a ticket.
