Can you make an existing OS job into a BIM job?

I can see anywhere to change an existing job's job type.  There is just one job that I want to fail if it runs too long. Or I need to create a new BIM job.

A BIM job cannot be an OS job. They are 2 separate job types.

You can perform alerting on a standard OS job using the 'Notifications before job completion' section of the Actions tab to alert for the job execution time or 'not completed by' time. This alert could be sent to a script that could kill the job if necessary. I can't provide an example of that but I believe there should be other discussions on this forum that cover alerts to scripts.

            Cheers,

            Paul.

To add on to Paul's response,

You would define a shout destination that would point to a script on your CTM Server.  This can be set in the ccm:

Give your Shout destination a name but be sure to select Server as the address and Program as the destination

This script will call the ctmkilljob command and pass it the orderid of the job you wish to kill as the second parameter.

for Unix it would be ctmkilljob -ORDERID $2

for windows it would be ctmkilljob -ORDERID %2 (Not tested so YMMV)

Then you can set up the job and use the shout destination you just created and provide the order id in the message:
