You mean you are linking to a LifeCyctelStatus node in Discovery? Where are you proposing to sync this to in the CMDB model?

Juan Jose Algar Ortega Apr 10, 2019 3:47 AM (in response to Andrew Waters)Yes. We are trying to sync our lifecycleStatus defined at ADDM to the different states on CMDB.
We have implemented a method to assign by TPL pattern different LifecycleStatus for our host and it will very usufull if it could be syncrhonize with CMDB.
Does anybody know how to define this syncmapping?
Which is the CMDB Class to stablish the mapping?

Vishnu Parihar Apr 19, 2019 3:07 AM (in response to Juan Jose Algar Ortega)Hi Juan,
I will really appreciate if you could share the TPL with me.
I am also trying to discover assetlifecycle status with TPL but not successful.
Thanking in advance.

Vishnu Parihar

Asset Lifecycle Status stopped being a CMDB attribute (and moved to AST:Attributes) after about version 7.6.04

Juan Jose Algar Ortega May 16, 2019 10:06 AM (in response to Nick Caulfield)Hello.
We are using CMDB versión 9.x.
We have deployed some TPL in BMC Discovery driven by "event" to asign different status of "Lifecycle" for a group of elements (Hosts, NetworkDevice, HardwareContainer, etc..) The different "status" are similar to the Status defined at CMDB and now We would like to synchronize this "Lfilecycle Status" with the Status "AST:Attibute" of each element at CMDB.
Any suggestion about how to assign the data from ADDM to AST:Attributes?
Best Regards.

6. Re: lifecyclestatus from ADDM to CMDB
Nick Caulfield May 16, 2019 10:23 AM (in response to Juan Jose Algar Ortega)2 of 2 people found this helpfulI believe that this form is not accessible via the CMDB API since it is not part of the CMDB (but instead part of Asset Management)
I am not aware of ADDM being able to sync data into AR forms which are not part of the CMDB
Perhaps there might be a way to create a custom attribute on the CMDB which replicates Lifecycle Status which can be updated via the ADDM Sync, and then have some way (workflow) to update AST:Attributes (which is linked to the CI in each of the different datasets via the ReconciliationID) from that but this is only a guess.
There may be some expert who knows of a better way to do this?

2 of 2 people found this helpfulYou are right, Nick. Sadly Discovery cannot update the lifecycle status for CIs because it is in forms in Asset Management, not in the CMDB data. AST:Attributes only contains CIs from the BMC.ASSET CMDB dataset, whereas Discovery must write to its own dataset, and it is up to the Reconciliation Engine to choose whether to reconcile the CIs into BMC.ASSET or not. It would therefore not be possible to consider Discovery updating the Asset forms.
I think you need to engage with the ITSM community to get recommendations about how to handle it within Asset.
