This may help you understand it: Selecting which instances and attributes are included in an audit - Documentation for BMC Atrium Core 9.1 - BMC Document…
I'll try to summarize: when you turn on auditing in a subclass (even if you are just auditing one attribute) you have turned it on for all. Then when you go to a superclass and turn on auditing you have now turned it on it the super and subclass. thus you will get region twice. you should always turn on auditing in the HIGHEST most super class and try to not do it in subclasses.

Hello Vlad,
I see you posted the same question in two PRoducts. ITSM and ARS. At the end the best would be CMDB
BMC Remedy 8.1 Duplicates in CMDB Audit Log
Anyway it is always enough to post in one product. You can be sure somebody will forward if it will be not correct
Regards
Marek

Maybe one of them should be deleted or maybe Matt Laurenceau can merge them. I don't know the protocol.

7. Re: BMC Remedy 8.1 Duplicates in CMDB Audit Log
Vlad Kovalchuk Mar 11, 2019 3:01 PM (in response to Marie Johnson)Hello Marie,
Unfortunately I faced another problem. When I set Audit Log = Yes in the BMC_CORE:BMC_BaseElement class, and Audit Log = None in the BMC_CORE:BMC_ComputerSystem class - in CMDB Audit Log I can't see the HostName attribute. This is because the HostName attribute presents only in the BMC_CORE:BMC_ComputerSystemcClass only, and Audit Log = None for this class
Sorry about that.
Thank you,
Vlad

2 of 2 people found this helpfulSo i Think you are not configuring things correctly, let me try and explain again.
so the base element is a master class and this type of class itself should not have auditing turned on ever! what should be turned on is the attributes you want to audit; think of the base element as a template of sorts and doesnt contain the data. Then in the sub class you want to go to the class manager and turn on “log“ type audits with the qualification of at least datasetid of BMC.ASSET. The master class’ attributes are inherited and thus the audit flag should be enabled when you turn on the subclasses auditing. Every subclass that contains that base element attribute where you turn on audits in the subclass will get that flag From the master.

9. Re: BMC Remedy 8.1 Duplicates in CMDB Audit Log
Vlad Kovalchuk Mar 12, 2019 7:56 PM (in response to Marie Johnson)OK, I turned off Audit Log in BMC_CORE:BMC_BaseElement class. Then I turned on Audit Log in the BMC_CORE:BMC:ComputerSystem class.
How to set the qualification of at least datasetid of BMC.ASSET?
I have Asset's attributes from two name spaces - BMC.AM and BMC.CORE, and I have problems with attributes from BMC.AM - I can't see them in the CMDB Log
Thank you,
Vlad

2 of 2 people found this helpfulFirst the qualification should be:
‘datasetid’=“BMC.ASSET”
second the attributes in the ‘AM’ namespace are asset attributes not CMDB.
To Enable the Audit on AST:Attribute please follow the steps below:
- Open the AST:Attributes form in Developer Studio.
- Select the Definitions tab.
- Open the drop down for Other Definitions.
- Open the drop down for Audit.
- Change the Audit State to Enable.
- Enable the Audit on the fields you want to turn Audit on.
-Restart Remedy AR System Application server.
- Audit will be captured in AST:AuditLogAttributes form.

Vlad Kovalchuk Mar 25, 2019 1:04 PM (in response to Marie Johnson)Thank you, Marie for your reply.
I have to audit 21 attributes:
Accounting Code, Additional Information, Availability Date, Budget Code, Disposal Date, DNS Host Name, Floor, Installation Date,
Invoice Number, Last Scan Date, Name, Project Number, Received Date, Region,Return Date, Room, Serial Number, Site, Site Group, Status, Tag Number
So, I set Audit Type = None in the BMC.CORE:BMC_BaseElement superclass,
And Audit Type = Log for the BMC.CORE:BMC_ComputerSystem class
Then I created a new asset with 21 attributes mentioned above.
On Create the asset – I see all 21 attributes, but when I modified that 21 attributes– I got only 8 assets in the CMDB Log:
DNS Host Name
Last Scan Date
Name
Region
Room
Site
Site Group
Thank you,
Vlad

Try to check the setting. I got similar problem. I set several fields with one OK but they were not set.
the I set always only one Fields to Audit and OKyed till Class Manager. Wait for several minutes and recheck.
that way I managed to get the fields really set to Audit.
regards
Marek
