What fields are you refering to.... ? Category is an object what is used to store data.
You just go to Administration setup in SFDC, or Configuration in Remedyforce layout and create the type of categories you want. Optionaly you can also create parent categories what will be visible in the category selection look up.
More complex part what you can do, and that only works for the mini page layouts, is to create new fields in the category object. In this object go to page layout editor, click mini page layout and assign those new fields in this layout. When you hover over in an incident for example, you will see a small popup with the new details!
(Ps. Not recommanded or supported by BMC as we speak, and only works in the SFDC layout)
You cannot add fields to that layout! You only can do this to the object page itself. Salesforce layout. Click the + next to the tabs and open the object. Click edit layout after opening a record upper right and set the fields..
Not sure what you are trying to achieve, but for example, when you are looking to add "Description" it seems like it might be coming in Winter 13 release.
All depends on the layout that you are using if you can make them visible, so for example on the std sfdc pages, it can be done easily, with console view it's harded.
If it's needed for assignment rules or sharing rules fields in the background are good enough!
Yes, I wanted the fields for validation purpose only and I have achieved that by adding fields in the Object. But wanted to confirm, If I could add fields to this layout. Thanks for confirming Paul.
One more question is, if at all, a Client requirement comes to add fields in this layout. What will be the possible solution?
Thanks and Regards,
At the moment you cannot add anything to this form.
Only option is to add items to the standard SFDC pages, but not in here! You can submit an idea for it!
Just want to check is currently in Summer 16 we already can add custom field into OOTB Category page layout? I can't find the place to add my custom field, thanks.
Currently this cannot be done. You can raise an idea. Only way to achieve this is by using the OOTB Salesforce page layout. Click +, select Category etc.
Hope this helps?
