Looks like the installer considering only 2 digits for version check.

            Hi Shameem,

Thanks for the info. You could be correct and I will try when I have the time.

You refer to info on BMC Remedy AR System Server. That issue is supposed to be fixed in 9.1 SP2 which is almost 2 years old as it dates from December 5, 2016. I would assume that such issues were fixed if also impacting DWP catalog. Java 8u101 was released mid 2016. Since then over 100 security fixes where issued. Also the included java is on a version > 100.

On the architecture part I'm still a little bit confused. Is there some good doc on this?

It looks like DWP catalog tries to install arserver. Does anyone know why? Shouldn't it make use of the existing arserver in our environment?

            Best regards,

            Jan

              Hi Jan,

Yes, the reference I have pointed from older versions, but my intention was to let you know this behavior is not new in bmc installers.

1808 is the latest version and I guess such issues must have been reported already if there is such a defect in the installer.

I would request you to create a support case with BMC if none of our members here are observed the same behavior in 1808 DWP-C installer.

              Regards,

              Shameem

                Hi Jan,

Are you able to attach the options.txt to this thread? We have tested internally with java versions over 100 and it has worked. I want to make sure we have the right way this is occuring.

                Cheers,

Sure. I tested also with java 8u92 and still have the same error. The options file is just the default template that I completed. (Note: I removed some sensitive information):

The cause seems to be jdk was installed instead of just jre.

So once you changed from JDK to JRE, the install worked?

Great to hear the install went through!

Yes. I was confused by the error message indicating a wrong version is used.
