You should check with IE Browser and see if you hit the same error. If that throws error, then I would suggest to do a hard flush of Midtier cache.

Also it would be worth understanding since when the problem started occurring. Was there any change post which this started happening, then revert the change and then check if that helps.

          Regards,

          Ravi

Hi, the problem started with new EDGE/ windows version  edge_version.jpg

Everything was working OK before latest update -  also other browsers  on the same computer (Chrome, Mozzila) are not having problems....

If you still facing issues, can raise a ticket with BMC support and Engg can check and work on this.

                Hi Inderveer,

Is this a defect , as i also face the same issue with Remedy 9.1 Sp4.

NOTE:- Igor is correct seems problem with that version only.

                Any suggestion on this.

create a case at bmc support, please.

This behavior shows all symptoms of a defect. Only this browser, after an update, new remedy version and no improvement.

I'm sure support can reproduce it and help you and all of us

                    Hi Stefan,

                    Thanks for the input.

I checked BMC Defect Management i found Defect SW00547933 ( Caught Exception error using Edge 42+ "Unable to get property 'PostApplet' )  for same problem and for same Remedy Version 9.1 SP4 Version and it says , it is going to Fixed in future patch release .

I checked on BMC Knowledge Management i could not find any input or reference related to such Scenario or defect, BMC should have raise a KB article for the same since problem happen on both 9.0.1 and 9.1 Sp4.

Hope the Defect information will help other to know that BMC is aware of this scenario and had raise the defect for the same.

                    Regards,

                    Alok

AFAIK this is SW00547933 and there is hotfix available. Please check with BMC and mention the defect id.

Edit: Sorry, didn't notice that Alok mentioned the defect id already.

I observe the same problem with the work of Edge in version 9.1.03. BMC Support replied that Hotfix is being tested and will be available for 9.1 SP4 patch 002 and higher only.

Apparently this is not a 9.1+ only problem.  We are currently on 8.1.02, and I received the following email regarding one of our clients:

I just got word from ... that some people are receiving the following error message after applying this month’s Microsoft security patches.
They are able to access through Chrome.

the screenshot included is the very same "This site says..." message.

I doubt it will be fixed on 8.1.02 though.

                          Thanks,

                            Hi ,

To give some insights about this problem : The problem is being caused by some really old code that included a Java Applet to perform POST Backchannel calls. This was an undocumented and unsupported "feature" that was only intended for FireFox, to work around an old performance related issue in Firefox. However, the build was set up to also include this code for Edge, Chrome and Safari as well. As it turns out, the latest version of Edge browser no longer accepts calls to "document.applets" and throws this error. Bottom line is, we don't need this old code in any of the browsers any longer, even Firefox. So, to fix this, we can simply keep the build from including this "unsupported" feature in all browsers now.

With 8.x Midtier you would be able to workaround the behavior ( The same fix works for any 9.x release )  , For this you will need to manually edit a couple of lines in Clientcore.js . I have added the changes needed in below thread .

Below are the code changes needed to the ClientCore js under the directory :
                            MidTier_install_path\resources\chr\javascript

For old Midtier 8.1.01 and earlier releases. Path would be like :

                            MidTier_install_path\resources\saf\javascript

                            if(document.applets["PostApplet"]) {

                            To:

                            if(false) {

The fix for 9.1.04 Patch 02 Release is available in any hotfix after 22 May 2018 build.

Please check article 000153903. ( It appears there is some problem with the article's visibility , We will check with our knowledge admins . The complete content of the knowledge article are updated in the above thread.)
