1. Re: AR System and Mid Tier on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and database on a remote Microsoft SQL Server on Windows
Kobus Duminy Dec 7, 2017 1:36 AM (in response to Henri Retief)Refer to: BMC Product Availability and Compatibility where each OS selected will show supported databases.
It may be technically possible but always verify if what you are doing is supported.

1 of 1 people found this helpfulI think the difficulty here is finding Linux libraries that will connect to MS SQL Server. Pretty sure that is why Linux AR to a MS SQL DB (which traditionally had to be in Windows) has never been supported (of course now that there is SQL Server for Linux things may change at some point). As for the web tier, a Linux web server will be fine with either Linux or Windows AR Servers.

Theo Fondse Dec 8, 2017 12:43 AM (in response to Henri Retief)You can install the MSSQL CommandLine tools on your Linux AR Server to get the MSSQL client libraries installed. See Get started with SQL Server 2017 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux | Microsoft Docs for instructions on how to do that.

Henri Retief Dec 8, 2017 1:23 AM (in response to Theo Fondse)Thanks Theo, the problem I guess is that this configuration might still not be supported by BMC, which won't make it an option
