    Reservation\placement unknown number

    Mohsen Pejgaleh

      Hi,

When I want to make a placement after making my reservation, in the hosts that I can place my reservation on, there is a number on the top right of the box, does anyone know where is the source of this number ? attached is a screenshot that can help understand my question.

          Hello Mohsen,

that number - also referred as score - is defined as the "number of (most extensive) items this container can host considering its capacity" (if you mouse over the number, you can see this description in a a pop-up).

This number basically shows the number of Spare VMs, calculated considering the largest Reservation Items already placed on that Cluster.

          Thanks!

          Andrea

Thank you Andrea for your response. I move the mouse and I see the definition. Are you able to tell me if this number is coming from a table ? if yes from which table please ? I checked the spare VMs number in the table (Under capacity views > Virtialization > vShphere > Infrastructure ) and it was not matching the number on the top right of box.

Thank you again for your help

              Hello Mohsen,

I am not 100% sure where this value is stored - browsing in the database, my best guess is the view v_rsv_container_details (column sparevms). However, please consider:

              • This view is not part of the TSCO public view and may change in the future
              • Please verify with BMC Support if this is the proper place where to find this information

In addition, please consider the following notes:

              • The "score" information seems not to be accessible through the REST API (this field is not returned by any API call)
              • "Spare VM" and "Score" are two different numbers by design
                • The "Score" is calculated considering the largest Reservation Items already placed on the Reservation Target (a.k.a. Cluster)
                • The "Spare VM" indicator is calculated considering the average Virtual Machine running on a Cluster

              Thanks!

              Andrea

Thank you Andrea for your support in this, very much appreciated, I will check with BMC support to confirm but this information was very helpful.

                Thanks,

                Mohsen
