Aprisma is currently building an integration between Spectrum and PATROL EM. This integration is built by Aprisma Development and uses our PATROL EM SDK.
(see http://devcon.bmc.com). They are currently beta-testing this integration in the US at a customers site which has Spectrum and PATROL EM. Onces the integration product is ready it will be submitted to BMC for Certification.
I also believe that this integration will be put on the next Spectrum CD. So for more information and release dates, please contact your Aprisma account manager.
I guess this is meant to be an integration for PEM (PATROL Enterprise Manager), since an agent integration into Spectrum is a standard product (previously named PatrolView for Spectrum).
Even if there is no official product, some implementations had been done by professional services. I know of one particular solution at a german customer, which includes bi-directional event passing and closing.
For more info, Guenter Niklas from Prof Services in Dusseldorf, Ratingen might be able to help you.
Customers can also use Patrol to talk directly to Spectrum through the Patrol Agent creating a 2 way communication between them.
In the past we have taken the Spectrum AlarmNotifier feed(taild/spit) into CP/PEM and if needed used snmpalarm to get CP/PEM data back into Spectrum. -gslaught
There is a program available from Spectrum (I believe it''s called "notifier") that will allow you to route the Spectrum events to a network socket address. (Disney in Orlando has been doing this for years). You should be able to get that from Spectrum support. You would then "listen" to that socket on PEM and forward the alerts to a filter (that you may have to write).
Sorry folks if I'm late getting in on this post. Been out for a week. We use something called "AlarmNotifier" provided by the Cabletron folks back when we first installed Spectrum. It is a piece of client software we installed on the COMMANDPost server. It brings Spectrum alerts into the directory you installed the client software in and you spit and tail that log into the filter you make for Spectrum. Ask your Spectrum (Aprisma) folks about it. I understand they are doing something else to integrate with PEM, but I am still using the AlarmNotifier because it's not broke yet and we are using Spectrum Enterprise 5 with CS4. Joe
I am the guy from ProServ in Germany that has done this integration at a customer.
You have to install AlarmNotifier from the Spectrum inst. CD on you PEM server. Better is to install also the SpectroGraph, this is the unix gui and enable you to use a advanced function, called SANM. This gives more informations, e.g. more fields from the AlarmNotifier.
After this, is a .alarmrc in the Notifier directory, where you can find parameters to start scripts for open, update and close. In the scripts (SetScript, UpdateScript and ClearScript) you can define the programm that you use for external work. (e.g. /usr/nc/Sol*/ConnectSPECTRUM/ConnectSPECTRUM.rex)
We have developed a rexx, that create's alerts direct in EHD, based on the Message2Operator Solution.
Now we have 3 AlarmNotifier running, to PROD, BACKUP and TEST system on spectrum and observ this with surveillance.
It is also possible to have a cli to close alerts, but this is not requred at this customer.
If any body need this solution, please give me a mail on firstname.lastname@example.org, only the documentation is in german.
