Keith Scarborough Nov 10, 2014 1:22 PM (in response to Ann Lamon)Ann, you could run this up as a new Idea, but the default concept is that the Audit will populate the RAM info for you. There are no provisions right now to allow you to specify MB, GB, etc.

Ann Lamon Nov 10, 2014 2:52 PM (in response to Keith Scarborough)Thank you Keith. Audit doesn’t seem to do that however. I am trying to get an inventory of what we need to upgrade all our PCs to certain configurations, and the RAM doesn’t show.

Are you saying that Audit does not seem to detect the RAM, or that Audit does not have to enter individual bytes?

6. Re: Gb vs Bytes in TI Assets
Ann Lamon Nov 10, 2014 3:19 PM (in response to Keith Scarborough)Audit doesn’t seem to detect the RAM. A report of “audited assets ranked by installed ram” only shows about 40 machines with any ram at all.

Keith Scarborough Nov 10, 2014 3:27 PM (in response to Ann Lamon)If you go into Tools > Support Center, then to the Licensing tab, how many Windows Audit licenses do you own, and how many are in use?

Keith Scarborough Nov 10, 2014 3:34 PM (in response to Ann Lamon)Based on that, then it sounds like only 26 machines should be showing any RAM that was picked up by the Audit. You may want to expand the number of machines that you conduct your audits on, so that the RAM values are automatically updated for you. This Community post talks about some of the ways you can initiate audits. I personally prefer using a login script or similar, because it's easier to set up and maintain.

Ann Lamon Nov 10, 2014 4:16 PM (in response to Keith Scarborough)Is there a report I can use to find out which computers are already being audited and which aren’t? I’ve been checking, and all but 2 so far have the checkbox for including in the audits checked.

11. Re: Gb vs Bytes in TI Assets
Ann Lamon Nov 10, 2014 4:23 PM (in response to Keith Scarborough)I ran the audited assets report and it only shows 26, even though all my computers have the checkbox checked.

12. Re: Gb vs Bytes in TI Assets
Ann Lamon Nov 10, 2014 4:31 PM (in response to Keith Scarborough)How can I uncheck that box, do a batch on all the assets I don’t want to audit (in a specific group)?

13. Re: Gb vs Bytes in TI Assets
Keith Scarborough Nov 11, 2014 6:06 AM (in response to Ann Lamon)There are two main ways to initiate an audit:
-Automatically, from within Track-It
-Manually, outside of Track-It!.
The automatic method depends heavily on your network environment. In order to have a high success rate, there are a lot of things that you have to ensure before you try to do any sort of mass audits. If those environmental considerations aren't met, then you'll have a poor success rate, and a lot of failures.
On the other hand, if you initiate your audits using a login script or a GPO, then you take all of those environmental dependencies out of the picture, and your success rate goes up dramatically.
Again, this BMC Community post goes over the different ways that you can initiate your audits: Track-It! Inventory 101 - Initiating an Audit
If you do want to try to stick with the automatic audits, then this Community post goes over those environmental concerns that I was talking about: Track-It! Inventory 101 - Workstation Manager
