Iain Taylor Jul 12, 2012 6:02 AM (in response to David Hawkes)Hi David can you check that the Boot_2_0_x64 is in the root of your tftproot folder.
What is the setup? what OS are you running this from?
how is your Datastore and tftproot folder populated?

24. PXE Error after upgrading to 8.1.02
Iain Taylor Jul 12, 2012 7:35 AM (in response to David Hawkes)Hi David I dont see a bootmgr.exe in your tftproot?
could you have a look at your configuration of your Properties dictionary under DataStore you should have a instance in your Pxe DataStore
I usually call this
"OS"_Datastore
It needs to have:
"FULL_PATH" in your case "D:\pxestore"
"LOCATION" "IP ADDRESS" of the server hosting the pxestore
"PASSWORD" "Password to access the share"
also check your Provisioning Configuration
Configuation menu/Provisioning Configuation
Check your system Package types
for example Windows 2008 Standard x64
Installer location \Win2K8_x64\......
make sure you set the installer location and the RSCD installer location eg: \Agents\Windows\........
and set the intial partition size
PXE tab
these are mostly defaulted to the following
Interface to bind eth0
multicast address 224.1.5.1
Listening port 4011
prompt timeout 0
"use Multicasting"
TFTP tab
IP address: "ip_address of your app server" or which ever server your tftpstore is located
base directory: in your case D:\PXE\tftproot
MTFTP settings
ip address default is 224.1.5.1
client port: 1758
server port: 1759
image file
make sure that the winpe 2.x image file you have created is set as a 64bit if you are provisioning 64bit os and that you have set it as the default boot image, and that the kernal name is listed as boot_2_0_x64

25. PXE Error after upgrading to 8.1.02
David Hawkes Jul 12, 2012 7:36 AM (in response to David Hawkes)In the Doc, it says "
If you plan to provision Windows operating systems, check that the
bootmgr.exe and pxeboot.0 files exist in tftproot
.
Where are these files found/created?

he's not getting to the datastore part yet, so that is irrelevant right now.
my guess is that the bootmgr was not copied over, possibly because you provided the path to the tftp location. i think you need to run the vb scripts to extract the bootmgr and pxeboot.0. you could run the winpe wizard again and see if the messages in the log say something to that effect.
otherwise you could try checking the box 'use tftp root as base directory' i believe you will have to have the tftp server registered w/ the fqdn or whatever a reverse lookup returns for that to work properly.

28. PXE Error after upgrading to 8.1.02
David Hawkes Jul 12, 2012 7:57 AM (in response to Bill Robinson)I have recreated the Image using the FQDN, and ticked the Use tftp root as base directory, that has now created a bootmgr.exe in the root of tftproot, should there also be a pxeboot.0 file?

Pxeboot.0 should be in tftproot\X86PC\pxelinux
