1. PXE Error after upgrading to 8.1.02
Scott Dunbar Aug 8, 2011 8:04 AM (in response to Iain Taylor)Hi Iain,
If you navigate to /opt/bmc/BladeLogic/8.1 and edit the Version file, you will see that it still lists all components as version 8.1.0.295. Edit this to reflesct 8.1.02.233
However the nature of your error also suggests you may not have run the database upgrade scripts. These scripts apply to 8.1 service pack 1 so if you have applied that already, you do not need to do it for 8.1 SP2
Hope that helps

3. PXE Error after upgrading to 8.1.02
Iain Taylor Aug 8, 2011 8:34 AM (in response to Bill Robinson)Thanks Scott/Bill, its on Window 2k8 64bit, I am trying to look through the EPD now but for the life of me can not find a PXE agent for 8.1.02.
I was using the Cisco UCS Configuration content 8.1.02 for my downloads and after upgrading the RSCD agent, the Application Server and the RCP I then upgraded the SQL Database using the script "Install_Hotfix_Update_SQLServer_script.bat" that was included in the Cisco81-SP2-SQL_Update_Scripts.zip download.
I have a horrible feeling that this is what is causing the error as the DB appears now to be at version 8.1.1, I will try and edit the version file when I am back in the office incase this is the cause. but as mentioned there doesnt appear to be an 8.1.02 update for PXE server? I have looked in all of the 8.1.02 BBSA folders for windows.

There is a separate PXE installer named PXE81-SP2-WIN32.exe that you need to use. I believe the db will still show at 8.1.1 as there were no db changes in SP2.

Scott Dunbar Aug 8, 2011 9:10 AM (in response to Bill Robinson)Iain
I had a very similar problem and it was just that Version file.
Seems like this latest SP does not update the file that some installers/services check.
EDIT to say - as bill says, if you have not run the upgrade for PXE then this is likely your problem. On RHEL the upgrades are all combined in the same package

6. PXE Error after upgrading to 8.1.02
Iain Taylor Aug 8, 2011 9:08 AM (in response to Bill Robinson)Bill, do you know where I might find this in the EPD because for the life of me I cannot find it in there?
Scott, I will give the amendment to the version file a go tomorrow when I am back on site, but I did think it strange that I couldnt find a PXE installer update for SP2 also.

Iain Taylor Aug 8, 2011 9:58 AM (in response to Bill Robinson)Bill thank you, I must be getting blind in my old age, or too used to 7.6 where the provisioning manager used to be a seprate application!

On the EPD, “Provisioning Manager” is just the PXE installer, and it’s a separate installer for only Windows.

David Hawkes Jul 11, 2012 4:20 AM (in response to Bill Robinson)Can the PXE Server be X64? The provisioning manager only mentions X86 in the EPD

Prabhat Handoo Jul 11, 2012 4:43 AM (in response to David Hawkes)I dont think thats supported, but you can use the same installer on a 64 bit machine as well. It just works fine. PXE81-SP3-P1-WIN32.exe will work for 64 bit server as well.
