Enable to recieve emails when an incident is assigned to a assigne even when on ar system email message form it shows sent

hi guys please help me, i am a newbie to ITSM, i am using itsm7.6.03, i had configured outgoing mail box, configured notification prefrences as email, but when an incident is assigned to a assigne then the assigne as well as the customer didnt get any notification mails at their respective email addresses, but on ar system email message form it shows that they are sent and shows no error
