1. Best practice conversion utility
snehal mhaske May 25, 2012 1:38 AM (in response to Abhinav Gupta)Hi Abhinav,
Yes, you can use the best practice conversion utility to preserve your customization.
To preserve modified or user-created objects in applications installed on pre-7.6.04
AR System servers, use the Best Practice Conversion command-line utility to
convert the objects into overlays or custom objects before upgrading your
applications or server components to version 7.6.04.
For more information regarding how to use the utility please go through following PDF. It will help you a lot.
" BMC Remedy Action Request System 7.6.04 Preserving Object Customizations with Overlays "

Richa Handa May 31, 2012 11:46 PM (in response to snehal mhaske)Hi Snehal,
Can you share the path where I can find this doc. Not able to find it in the prduct documentation for ARS 7.6.04.
Also, can this utility be used for preserving customizations of 6.3? The current scenario is client is working on 6.3 and need to move to 7.6.04 as 6.3 is no longer supported. 6.3 is highly customized, even the help desk form. we are building a new environmnet of 7.6.04 and planning to migrate the customizations of 6.3 to 7.6.04. is it possible through this utility?
regards,
Richa
